Hi Anousheh-

Congratulations on your flight and your safe return. Have there been any incidents of cosmonauts / astronauts suffering from claustrophobia while in space. Seeing that you guys have to spend time in a such a small space sometimes for great lengths of time ? Do they train you to overcome something like this like they do for the motion sickness.

 Thanks.

Comment by Js — October 1, 2006 @ 7:12 pm

J, I don't know "the temperature of Space."

Space per se does not have a temperature but objects in space have a temperature depending on their material and their distance from a heat source like the sun. I read somewhere that outside ISS could be around 7C . It felt cold just by touching the windows.

Of course it depends on where in space you are talking about. The closer you get to a heat source, like a star, the hotter it gets.

Regarding Space walks.. they are connected with cord sometimes referred to as the umbilical cord and they have rocket packs that they can use in case they miss a handrail and float away…

My Dear Tina, It makes me extremely happy to know I was able to help you keep your dream alive. Reading your message, Shadi's message and many other messages like yours makes it worthwhile to listen to others judge me without knowing me…

Thank you for the correction… I'm sorry about the mistake. The quote is from Marianne Williamson’s book "Return to Love" and was used by Nelson Mandela in one of his speeches
