I am so inspired by you that I had to write you a little something. For a long time I had, without knowing it, given up on my dreams; I had been a victim of self-doubt. There has been something in me that has wanted to believe in myself, wanted to believe that anything was possible, but truly deep down inside, not accepting that theory as true. I shutter at the thought of living the rest of my life in the cage of self-doubt and unaccomplished dreams-I will not stand for it! Since I have stumbled across your adventures, it has shaken my entire foundation of what I believe is possible for myself. You see, you tell the children to dream big, but it is really me I feel like you are talking to, because when I was six years old, my mother died and I was left to live in a dream sucking and abusive environment. During that time, I believe that something in me died along with her, until now. I don’t know how I am going to do it, I don’t even know if it is even possible for me to do it, but I am ready to not only try but to do, to allow myself to start dreaming again and dreaming big. I am scared to death as the fears of inadequacy engulf me, but I don’t care, I am ready to give a life full of dreams fulfilled a chance. This may never reach you, but simply by the act of writing this, it has freed me.

Welcome back to our wonderful Earth.

We are very proud of having direct contact with you via amateur radio. September 24 is a very special day in the community of Iranian radio amateurs, as the first time an Iranian amateur radio station had a successful QSO (in English and Farsi) with another party (who is also the first Iranian astronaut) in space! How wonderful.

We really appreciate the time you managed to communicate with us during your stay in ISS, and also for your message and recommendations to Iranian students interested in space sciences.

A note for other readers: The amateur radio station EP3RF (Operated by Reza Soleimani nia, 30, Licensed since 1998) had the great chance of three contacts from Tehran to Mrs. Anousheh Ansari (RS0ISS) in ISS. The first successful contact was on September 24 at 08:30 UTC.
On September 25 we had two contacts at 07:20 and 08:55 UTC. The first was a short QSO. The exchanged report was 5 by 9 for both at first. After that she had some problems in copying our voice although we copied her very well during the ISS pass time.
Ninety minutes later we had a very successful QSO with her. We both copied each other 5 by 9. We asked her for a message for Iranian students interested in space sciences. Then Mrs. Ansari answered the question of one of the Students on how Iranian students can cooperate with international societies in space projects. We then requested her to have another conversation the day after to answer the questions of other students since there was no time left then. It was amazing how she always replied so kindly to all of our requests. Unfortunately, the next day, September 26, our contact was unsuccessful though we could copy her voice calling us during all ISS pass time but she could not copy our response. We think this may have been due to the interference on the uplink frequency from other earth stations working on the same frequency.
