Soyuz TMA-9 Launch

  1. As a videoblogger, I’m so happy to see you using YouTube. WordPress and YouTube and space, what a winning combination.

You are truly ripping through the “envelope” and dissolving the box we’re encouraged to break out of. Hope all goes well, and thanks for setting a powerful example for dreamers, visionaries, and strivers for perfection in all things.

  10. Dear Anousheh,

God bless you for being the first woman space tourist!

The book “First Man” is about Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon. As the first human to step off planet Earth onto another celestial body, he will be remembered long after Christopher Columbus has been forgotten!

I tell every little girl I know that the “First Woman” has not yet set foot on the moon. If she works hard and makes all the right decisions (and has some luck), it could be her!

She will also become part of history, and will be remembered as long as Neil Armstrong.

  11. Dear Anousheh,

At first, I watched the interview on Iran’s channel 4 “Night Sky” program — a few days before your flight. Following that, I read more about you on the Internet and saw your pictures as you got ready.

Learning about you and your work has made me feel much stronger as a woman, and more hopeful in the future of our species, as a citizen of this planet.

I wish you an enjoyable stay on ISS and hope your research goes as planned. May you have a safe and smooth landing.

I can’t wait to hear about your trip in your own words, hopefully on another interview with “Night Sky” 🙂

  20. Hi Mrs. Anousheh;

Since months ago (exactly from when I heard the first time about you) I’m following your attitudes, trials, and successes with a great honor of compatriot-ship. Now, I’m asking myself what happened if Anousheh didn’t travel from Iran on 1984? What was she now doing for a life if she still lives in Iran even if she was an intelligent student (that I believe she is)? And what about her family, if they prevent their dearest daughter from being ambitious and insistent in her goal (like most of Iranian families)? I don’t want to be envious and am happy and proud to see you as the first woman who travels in the space. But I want to emphasize the factor of upbringing. If many of talented children in Iran had the same conditions and environment of you, perhaps we have never heard about Neil Armstrong, Oppenheimer, and many many other honorable persons. So, it’s time to do something! You’ve told in your recent speeches that with the paid $M20 money you had done the best that you could, and I’m just asking you: Did you think about your compatriot children in Iran while you told that? And don’t you feel any responsibility about them?….

Anyway, go on Anousheh. That’s too late to say so outdated opinions. It’s your time now, only for you, to show how far can a space-minded woman go! Good luck; God bless you; and hope to see you by the next friday healthy on the old Earth!

Yours, Farhad (a failed talented man from Iran)

  21. Congratulations! How wonderful to see your success as your again rise above us all. You are a courageous example to all. God speed.

  22. Dear Anousheh, Watching Soyuz take off brought tears to my eyes. I wish you a pleasant trip to the depth of your (and our) dreams and pray for your safe return. We are all so proud of you. See you on TV upon your return.

  24. Hi Peter,

Thanks for the Video. That’s what i was hoping for. Hopefully we will have a nice video log by the end of the mission. I can only hope she was able to take a small video capable camera with her, or at least have access to whatever they might have up there. Right now i’m impatiently waiting for NASA-TV to start the broadcast 🙂

Anousheh, every night when I go to bed, I just think that you are watching us from up there!
I close my eyes and try to imagine what you are seeing from high above! I wish you could take Iran’s flag on your arm. Not for the politician but for the people of Iran.
The good thing is you have our flag in your heart.
When I was a teen, I had the same dream as yours.
I wish you and other crew memebers a safe flight back home.
